Here's What Others Say!

— Traditional Timber

"We have thoroughly enjoyed this kiln, I couldn't imagine not having it as a part of our business. It has been amazing for producing high quality kiln dried lumber!! Also Idry is an amazing company, while the lumber that is in this video was drying, we had a huge storm come through and cause a lot of power surges. It ended up taking out our fan control module. So I called Idry, figuring I was going to be spending a few hundred dollars on a new one, but they just sent me a new one at no charge even though we are out of warranty. How great is that? They take real good care of their customers!"

— Ol Loggin Sawmill

“Before the iDRY, we were air drying lumber for a year per inch. Now, we can take it straight off the mill and have it fully dried in five to six weeks. It’s hands down the easiest, most reliable piece of equipment I’ve added to my business. I can dry for myself, for customers, and scale nationally. It’s not just a kiln — it’s the reason I’ve been able to quadruple my business.”

Frequently Asked Questions

Have questions about our kilns? You're in the right place!

Question 1: What can I dry?

Stick pretty much whatever you want in this kiln? Just keep your expectations in check. If you're trying to dry 24" beams they will crack, if you're drying 4/4 maple it won't.

Question 2: How much does it cost?

See pricing on all models: CLICK HERE

Question 3: What is the operating cost?

Typically, the electricity costs are $0.04 to $0.06 per board foot

Question 4: Do I need a boiler?

Nope, unless you want to use one. Most people go with the standard electrically heated version.

Question 5: What is the power requirement?

iDRY MICRO: 208-240V 1PH 60A

iDRY Standard and PLUS: 208-230V 1PH 60A 60Hz

iDRY Turbo Mini: 208-230V 1PH 60A

iDRY Turbo: 480V 3PH 60A

iDRY Turbo Pro: 480V 3PH 80A

Question 6: Can I put my kiln outside?

Nope. It will freeze, and it is designed to heat the wood, NOT the WORLD!

Question 7: How much lumber can I fit?

iDRY Mini: Up to 800 board feet

iDRY Standard: Up to 2,000 board feet

iDRY PLUS: Up to 4,000 board feet

iDRY TURBO Mini: Up tp 2,500 board feet

iDRY TURBO: Up to 6,000 board feet

iDRY TURBO PRO: Up to 15,000 board feet

Ultimately, It depends on the lengths and how tight you can make your lumber pack.

Question 8: How do I load this thing?

The iDRY Standard and PLUS kilns take a stickered pack of lumber or slabs. You can load it up by hand, forklift, or tractor. Keep your lumber within the length and width of the trolley as best you can. The iDRY TURBO Models are heating plate kilns, so there are no stickers, and it’s faster to load.

Question 9: Do iDRY people install it for me?

No. Your local licensed electrician and plumber can handle it…no problem. We’ll help over the phone if needed.

Question 10: Is shipping cost included?

No. We can quote shipping, but rates change all the time, so we can only estimate the cost. GET A QUOTE HERE

Question 11: How do I get it off the trailer when it arrives?

Crane, forklift, a couple of forklifts, a bunch of bobcats, or whatever works. This machine comes completely assembled and welded together. It can be picked up with care by lift points on top or from under the chamber. If you pick it with a forklift, use bolsters to spread across the frame of the chamber to prevent damage to the exterior sheet metal.

Question 12: Do I need a moisture meter?

We recommend you take a temperature and species-calibrated reading at the core of the wood. Many people ship their wood thinking it is dry, but they use an inaccurate moisture meter that only reads 1/4” into the wood.

We recommend the Delmhorst J-2000 Moisture Meter WITH a pin hammer.

Question 13: Is this kiln difficult to run?

Can you press a button? Then no.

Question 14: How do I know there isn’t too much competition for kiln drying in my area?

We’re about 1% of the way to saturating the market for lumber drying…relax. Think of how many Woodmizer sawmills are out there and how few kilns. Every portable size sawmill needs about three or more iDRY Kilns to dry the lumber they saw. There are THOUSANDS of little sawmills out there. Go get em’ tiger!
